The academic project of the Computer and IT Security Unit addresses the needs regarding the use and application of information and communication technologies for the development and management of safe and trustworthy information systems by offering guidance, technical support, and computer services.

Our academic interest is not solely focused on analyzing and producing communications from the scientific sphere towards the audiences, but also on addressing the different contexts in which heterogeneous images and scientific and technological practice are produced and shared: the media representation, the images of the different social groups, the possibilities of action that each social group has, the idealizations and mutual expectations in the various cultural instances, etc.

To support the activities carried out by the Institute researchers, in the late 90s, the Teaching and Human Resources Unit was created. Its main objective is to centrally address issues related to academic and administrative matters required for the development of their research.

The automatization of processes and services that contribute to the management of information derived from academic activity at the ICN is performed at the Marcos Rosenbaum Library and Information Unit. The task of automatization comprises the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of the systems, as well as the generation of planning statistics, which supports decision-making.

At the Irradiation and Radiological Safety Unit, we conduct basic and applied research on the effects of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation on matter, aim to establish links with industry and other institutions, and offer specialized courses in the field.
