Research: Irradiation and Radiation Safety Unit

Research among the following lines is conducted at the Irradiation and Radiation Safety Unit:
  • Study of defects generated by ionizing and non-ionizing radiation in polycrystalline and amorphous solids and optic properties. Effects of radiation and mathematical models.
  • Luminiscence phenomena: Thermally Stimulated (TL), Optical Stimulated (OSL), Radioluminiscence (RL), and Photostimulated Luminescence (PSL) properties and their applications in low and high-dose dosimetry, retrospective dosimetry, and dating.
  • Synthesis and study of micro and nanocrystalline dosimetric compounds impurified by optically active ions in alcaline halides, fluorides, oxides, sulphates, diamond, polyminerals, quartz sillicates, and feldspars contained in irradiated foods.
  • Detection of irradiated foods and their luminescence properties.
