Laboratory Description

Research Lines

The laboratory conducts research on the modification of polymers through grafting by ionizing radiation (grafts, binary grafts, interpenetrating networks, and comb-type hydrogels at the nano, micro, and macro scales) with two main objectives:
  • Drug retention for controlled release in films, catheters, fibers, and other biomedical polymeric implements, with characteristics such as anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and anticancer properties.
  • Synthesis of new polymeric systems using ionizing radiation for the retention of heavy ions in contaminated water.
  • Modification of polymers to increase their radiation resistance.
The laboratory has a bilateral Mexico-Brazil project CONACyT-CNPQ 174378 and two DGAPA projects.

Laboratory Infrastructure

The laboratory is equipped with a differential scanning calorimetric (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) equipment, and contact angle measurement equipment. It also has a UV-VIS spectrometer.
