Laboratory Description

Our research line focuses on Radiochemistry studies applied to chemical evolution. We study physicochemical processes that probably occurred before the emergence of life. In this project, we study the formation of bio-organic molecules and emphasize the role that ionizing radiation and solid surfaces may have played in these processes, both in the primitive Earth and in extraterrestrial environments.

Laboratory infrastructure

We have laboratories for the preparation of samples, ultraviolet-visible and infrared spectroscopy, gas and high-performance liquid chromatographs, and coupled techniques like gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.
