Visa

Citizens of the 27 EU countries, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Japan and USA are among the countires that do not need visa to enter Mexico as tourists.

Please check ahead the list of countries that do require a visa. This procedure may take several weeks, and in some cases you might be required to apply in your residence or citizenship country.

Airport

Code: MEX. Benito Juarez International Airport is Mexico City's only passanger airport and is located 6 km east of the City's Center.

Transportation from the Airport

It is recommended to use only authorized taxi services. From the airport to downtown, the cost should be around USD$13 or MXP$170-200

Currency

Mexico's currency is the peso (MXP). There are notes of 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 pesos, and coins come in denominations of 20 cents, 50 cents, and one, two, five, 10 pesos.

The most convenient way of money in Mexico is using a major credit or debit card such as Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Cards can be used to get cash from ATMs (they normally give you a more favorable exchange rate than a bank).

As a backup it's a good idea to bring with you a little cash.
