On the Present Status of Quantum Mechanics

The title of this talk I borrowed from Schrödinger's famous "cat paradox" paper. A lot has been published since about the foundations of quantum mechanics, but the topic remains controversial. I will give an introduction to and overview of relevant proposals for how to solve the cat paradox and the closely related "measurement problem" of quantum mechanics. I will discuss what these proposals tell us about the reality behind quantum mechanics, how they have developed in recent years, and which conclusions about the foundations of quantum mechanics should be drawn from Bell's nonlocality theorem.
