New long distance contribution to semileptonic heavy-meson decays
| We have computed for the first time a purely long distance contribution to M^\pm \to P^\pm \ell+ \ell^- (P = \pi, K) charged heavy meson (M) decays. This novel contribution is relevant for energies well below the J/psi resonance and -depending on the channel- can have important effects both in the branching ratio and in new CP asymmetries due to the different strong and weak phases of the short- and long-distance contributions. Our predictions can be tested with current and forthcoming LHCb data. |
