Some aspects of deformations in mathematics and physics

I aim to review different aspects of deformations having their origin in physics and show their development in mathematics. I will consider one-parameter formal deformations and describe their connection to homological algebra. Likewise, I will show how q-deformations, appearing in deformations of algebras of vector fields where derivations are replaced by sigma-derivations, gave rise to a new class of nonassociative algebras.
