Covariant relativistic kinetic theory
| The manifestly covariant formulation of relativistic kinetic theory is presented, including the calculation of the relativistic equilibrium distribution and the equipartition theorem. We begin by reviewing the old problem, which comes from Einstein, on whether a moving object appears cool, and the recent numerical simulations that have clarified this controversy. We show how the covariant formulation contains these latest results. Applications and future work are discussed. |
