Aspects of modified 2-form gravity

The first order Plebanski formulation of General Relativity in terms of self-dual 2-forms admits a generalization, proposed by Krasnov, that is qualitatively different from other possible generalizations of General Relativity in terms of metric variables. The Krasnov modification embeds General Relativity in a family of generally covariant theories with the crucial property that they all describe two propagating physical degrees of freedom. In this talk, I will try to illustrate the main features of this class of theories and report on some recent work on aspects of the underlying geometrical structure (joint work with M. Montesinos and M. Velazquez).
