Generic Scalar Clouds around Black Holes as Bose-Einstein Condensates

Elías Castellanos (MCTP/UNACH)

RESUMEN: In this seminar I will discuss some properties associated with scalar field configurations interpreted as Bose-Einstein condensates around black holes. The condensate is modeled in terms of a massive test-scalar field together with a self-interaction term which is able to link the corresponding equation of motion with the so-called Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The predictions of the model will be analyzed by using the so-called Thomas-Fermi approximation, which allows to extract relevant information from the system in a simple and concise way. Finally, I will discuss how these systems could be interpreted as candidates to modeling dark matter in the Universe.
