Experimentation:

-Design and construction of particle detectors.
-Pierre Auger: Installation, commissioning and operation of the muon detector BATATA.
-JEM-EUSO (Extreme Universe Space Observatory):
a) Design and construction of the housekeeping system of the experiment
b)Study, selection, characterization and integration of thermal, high voltage, mechanical and optical sensors of the detector.
c) Design and construction of an opto-mechanical shower simulator for focal surface characterization
d) Verification of the end-to-end detector simulation software

Phenomenology:
Data analysis for the Pierre Auger Observatory:
-Primary cosmic ray flux chemical composition
-Cosmic ray anisotropy in the arrival directions and its possible correlation with astrophysical sources.

JEM-EUSO:
-Numerical simulation of possible astrophysical scenarios for UHECR production and the analysis of the corresponding scientific potential of the JEM-EUSO mission.
-Neutrino and gamma extensive air shower simulation and the design of discrimination algorithms.
-Numerical module design for cloud treatment by the JEM-EUSO data reconstruction software.

Theory:
-Astroparticle production, acceleration and propagation mechanisms, as well as neutrino and photon associated backgrounds. Different environments and scenarios are considered
-Active Galactic Nuclei (relativistic jets and supermassive blackholes)
-OShock waves in different astrophysical environments: accretion in galaxy clusters, galactic terminal winds, galaxy collisions
-Gamma ray burts
-Dark matter decay in the vicinity of black holes in models with extra-dimensions
-Dark matter decay in galaxy halos

-Study and simulation of the effects of cosmic magnetic fields on UHECR propagation and data analysis.
